Course: Disaster medicine and Humanitarian Aid in the 21st Century and the EU

This course has been designed in order to introduce Undergraduate students to the origins and evolution of humanitarian action and civil protection at national, international, and European level. Throughout the course will be addressed issues with regards to humanitarian crisis and medical management in complex emergencies, as well as international mechanisms for an effective medical response to crisis and their response to crises. Some special attention will be given to the importance of intercultural communication, as well as the ethics of humanitarian management.
